Introduction

This is my version of the Rohan/Threat Nazgul deck that has been winning a lot of tournaments recently (both offline and online). I don't have all the right cards to make a truly great deck, but I've done my best with what I've got. This disadvantage could be seen as a positive for this deck list though, since it should hopefully be useful to others who also need to think up alternatives to playing 4x Morgul King, for example.

So far, I've only managed to play one game with this deck and it won. I plan to play it again in the future, as it is an effective combination. The deck is very balanced, bringing wins with either side of the deck, which probably explains why the top players have been using it a lot.

Strategy

The idea is to hurt them with the Nazgul and gallop past anything that gets thrown down against your Rohirrim. I recommend bidding 0 and going second, but there isn't any harm going first, if for some reason you think this is a good idea. Always stay one site behind or level with the opponent. The real aim of the deck is to kill them with the Nazgul, so following down the path is fine. That said, if your minions aren't working right, do some double jumps: Rohan is very good at this, what with all the exerting minions and damage+1 weapons and events.

Merry was meant to be the key to the FP, but I didn't actually manage to get him out during my first game with this deck. If he comes in your hand, get him and his Sword down together. Now, unless Greed is out, you can put companions down en masse and keep walking one site at a time, relatively unscathed.

Most Shadow sides find it hard to cope with 6+ companions, especially with Merry there to exert minions in Maneuver before they can exert themselves. Perhaps wait until site 5 to fully unload: you can then afford to take a few wounds at site 6, but then double through it (using the site's text to heal each Rohan companion) to 7.

If for some reason Merry w/ Sword doesn't come out (or you don't have Merry's Sword for your deck), or you're playing safe against a possible Greed appearing, your fellowship should still be pretty strong. A double move isn't too hard once Eomer and an Elite Rider are fully tooled up (mount and spear). If you get Gamling out, save possessions for playing on him during skirmish phases. Hrethel is great against Enduring minions (just keep healing them) and Eowyn can stop people dying to damage-bonus minions, by exerting herself and adding 1 to prevent a wound.

The Shadow is really what this deck is all about though. You need to get the Morgul King out with a weapon, and a Steed (preferably at a plains site) and watch people fall over in his path. All the Gollum stuff is there to add threats, so Morgul King can use them to fetch useful cards. Ulaire Attea is also a beast and Nelya causes trouble when the Ring bearer has two wounds or burdens.

Ferny is in there to help with a site 2 attack and also aid against Gondorian site-number-adders. He can also be used to swarm someone or just put on weak companions. I prefer "threat" Gollum to the card-discard Gollum, but if you're stuck with a lot of junk in your hand, use Captured By The Ring to get him and discard cards in his skirmish.
